One of the great pleasures of our meetings is Lucy’s Lunch – wonderful, home‑cooked food prepared with real care.
Every fortnight, Lucy serves a generous main course, followed by a delicious dessert, all freshly made and always warmly received by our members.
These are not ordinary club lunches; they are fantastic, comforting meals that add to the friendly atmosphere of our gatherings. They are very much part of what makes Shipston Probus special.


What makes Lucy’s cooking even more exceptional is her commitment to using high‑quality, locally sourced ingredients. Much of the fresh produce comes from Turners of Shipston, the town’s long‑established traditional greengrocer. Turners is renowned for its friendly service and its wide selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables, as well as fresh fish including crab, lobster, and oysters. By choosing to source from a trusted local supplier, Lucy ensures that every meal is not only delicious but also rooted in the best of Shipston’s own food community.
This partnership between Lucy’s skill in the kitchen and Turners’ outstanding produce helps create lunches that feel both homely and special – a real highlight of our Probus gatherings.


Membership & Lunch Fees
These are kept low and straightforward:
- Annual membership: currently £40.
- Lunch: £20 per fortnightly meeting for Lucy’s excellent two course home cooked meal.
- Special Lunches: A few of our meetings are held at local pubs. Lunch costs are slightly higher, at around £30. There is usually a choice of main and dessert courses.
- Lunches should be paid for in advance by bank transfer, please see your membership dashboard for account details.
